In what order do speeches go after a wedding?
December 13th, 2009 | by admin |I’ve heard so many variations and I’m not sure if there is a traditional order but does it go Father of the bride>Groom>Best man? Or does it not matter?
We had, father of the bride, groom and finished with the best man. Do whatever you want and in which ever order you want. It is your wedding afterall.

Traditionally the speeches go after the Wedding Breakfast and in the order of
Father of the Bride
Groom
Best Man,
However, at our wedding, although the speeches still went in that order we had them before the Meal, and my Dad, Husband and The Best Man wanted them over with so they could enjoy their meal.
I don’t supose it matters, as long as they all know the order, as the Groom should start by thanking his father in law for his kind words, and at the end of his speech say something along the lines of "and now i will pass you over to________, the Best Man.

I don’t believe there is a specific order that anyone follows anymore. It really depends on your situation. I only have the bestman and MOH do speeches.

It really doesn’t matter. Make your own format.

Father (or person who gave bride away), Groom and then best man. However, nowadays often there are others who want to speak, for example the mother of the bride or the bride herself. Usually in the hotel or venue you are holding your reception would keep you right in this and advise the best order for speeches if more people than normal decide to say a few words.

I got married last year and my Dad gave his speech first, then my new hubby, then the best man. . . . . . I don’t think it’s so important these days though.
